Addressing Canon SNMP OID Reuse Inconsistencies

SiteAudit Version 8.1.0.0 includes a critical update to address a data collection issue impacting some Canon GX, LBP and MF devices.
These devices were identified as reusing SNMP Object Identifiers (OIDs) across different counter objects, which is non-compliant with standard SNMP agent best practices. This led to inconsistent and potentially inaccurate reporting because the application could not reliably distinguish the true counter represented by the ambiguous OID on different models.

New Counter Algorithm

To resolve this, we have implemented a new counter collection algorithm for Canon devices. This specialized implementation accurately interprets and maps the OIDs utilized by these specific models, ensuring reliable and accurate counter data collection. We anticipate this change will dramatically reduce or eliminate the need for manual counter data corrections.

Impact on Historical Data

As a necessary step to maintain data integrity under this new collection schema, the previously collected historical counter data for some Canon GX, LBP and MF devices will be removed. This is required because the old data is incompatible with the correct OID mapping introduced in Version 8.1.0.0.
