Netaphor SiteAudit 6.2 Release Notes

Version 6.2 Schema 895
April 30, 2015

New Features & Enhancements

  • SiteAudit Analyzer – a powerful new addition that integrates with Microsoft Excel. View tables and charts created dynamically from your database. Charts can be easily integrated into Microsoft PowerPoint and Word. Perform what-if analysis and TCO
  • Functional Security – SiteAudit now supports functional security. Users can be assigned to various roles and provided only needed permissions. For example, analysts can have full access to view data and create reports but cannot change configuration information
  • $CONSUMABLECOLOR keyword is now available for Consumable Thresholds. This allows the consumable color to appear in the incident created for a consumable, which helps determine the type of cartridge to order.
  • Improve discovery support for Intermec devices
  • Add support for additional devices to show data such as device type, energy star compliance, utilization, and more
  • Improved support for Sharp counters and consumables

Changes in This Version

  • SLA Uptime percent is now calculated using the Work Hours Calendar. In prior versions, the Uptime was calculated on a 24 hour/day basis using the date set in the time span. For usres who want to continue using this calculation, the Legacy Uptime column is available for use
  • Monitoring behavior for devices that are asleep has been changed such that data is collected more frequently to increase the odds that data is collected during periods when the device is awake
The SLA Uptime value had previously been calculated using the time from the Time span. In version 6.2, this value is calculated using the time from the Work Hours Calendar. The Legacy Uptime column has been included and its value is calculated using the time span for those users who prefer this method. For more information about how Uptime is calculated, refer to SLA Downtime & Uptime Explained.

Important Changes in This Release

.NET 4.5.1 must be installed before upgrading to version 6.2. This can be downloaded from Microsoft or from the prerequisites from the Netaphor website

Supported Platforms & Software Requirements for 6.2

Windows 2003 and Windows XP are no longer supported platforms. Version 6.2 cannot be installed on these platforms. Microsoft Framework .NET 4.5.1 must be installed prior to upgrading or installing version 6.2

Upgrading to Version 6.2

It is best practice, and highly recommended, to create a .bak backup of the SiteAudit database prior to upgrade. The backup can be created using Microsoft SQL Management Studio or by running a SQL script as described in Creating a .BAK Backup using the SiteAudit Viewer

The database schema upgrade may take several hours to complete depending how long monitoring has been running and how many printers and the type of printers that exist. It is recommended that this be done in off-peak hours such as in the evening or on the weekend.  DO NOT STOP the upgrade once it has been started.  Clicking on the application after starting the upgrade may result in the Not Responding message, but SiteAudit is still working and will display a message when the upgrade is complete.

Upgrade Progress

Database upgrades can take several hours to complete for large databases. The upgrade time depends on the size of the database, the quantity and type of data, and the version of software before the upgrade.  DO NOT STOP the upgrade once it has started even if the Viewer displays a Not Responding message. A dialog will appear once the upgrade completes.

The Viewer may take a few minutes to open the first time it is started after an upgrade while final updates complete. During this time, do not force the application closed.
