SiteAudit notifications in their raw form are XML documents.  These notifications are transformed by a stylesheet so that the notification is easier for users to read or in a format that is suitable for integration with a ticketing system.  By default, all notifications are translated using the SiteAuditAlertNotification.xsl file located in the C:\ProgramData\Netaphor\SiteAudit folder.  This produces email notification similar to that shown below.  Most email clients have the ability to display email in text or HTML modes.  When email is displayed as HTML, the email notification will appear like the sample below.  If another stylesheet is used to transform the notification, it may appear different.

When an email client is configured to display the email as text or cannot display the email as HTML, the user will see a notification in its raw XML format.  It is possible to modify the SiteAudit alert notification to suppress the text portion of the notification so that the email is displayed using the transformation file.

If you are receiving email notifications in their raw XML format, follow the instructions below to suppress the text portion of the notification.  The email client should then show the transformed notification.

Suppressing Plain Text in Email Notifications

  • Open the SiteAudit Viewer
  • Select the menu item, Tools > Application Settings...
  • Select the Monitoring tab
  • Change the application setting, SuppressPrimaryPlainTextNotificationEmail value to True
  • Select OK to accept the change and close the dialog
  • Restart SiteAudit Monitoring

The email client should display transformed notifications.
