1) Licensing:

·           All licenses granted prior to version 5.0 must be updated to work with Netaphor SiteAudit 5.0 and later. To obtain or upgrade a license, review the information at: http://www.netaphor.com/support/LicenseUpgrade.pdf

·           Request a license prior to installing SiteAudit as explained in the LicenseUpdgrade document

·           After the install, launch the SiteAudit Viewer and copy the User ID from the Help About License dialog and submit it at http://licensing.netaphor.com/ to obtain your license key

·           Insert the license key into the License Key field, and click OK.

·           The SiteAudit software is now licensed and ready to use.

2) Operations:

·        Prior to starting monitoring, the database must be initialized.  To initialize the database:

·        Start SiteAuditViewer.

·        Go to Setup->Database… On the dialog:

·        Enter the name of the host name (or IP address) where SQL Server 2005 or later is running.  The default is (local) which assumes the database is running on the same machine as the viewer.

·        Enter the name of the database.

·        Enter the "sa" password for this database if applicable.

·        Click Install.

·        Click OK.

·        To monitor locally connected printers (i.e. USB or LPT connected printers):

·        You must provide host credentials for the hosts from which you wish to collect data on local printers.

·        Host credentials consist of hostname\username (or a domainname\username) and a password.

·        The host credentials of an administrator are required to monitor local printers.  Often in an enterprise, the host credentials of the domain administrator are administrator credentials on other host workstations in the network. If this is the case one only needs to provide the credentials of the domain administrator.

·        If the credentials of the domain administrator do not provide administrator access on the host workstations in the network, each host credentials can be provided individually. Alternatively *\username is equivalent to hostname\username with the hostname being substituted for each hostname discovered.

·        It is not necessary to associate credentials with a specific host.  Each credential supplied is tried until one is found that works for a specific host. This association is determined by SiteAudit automatically.

·        To provide discovery information:

·        Host credentials as described above are provided via Setup->Discovery->HostCredentials.

·        To add a network to the list of networks to be scanned for devices:

·        Setup->Discovery->Networks, click on add to add a network number and subnet mask.

·        Similarly devices on networks that one does not wish to monitor can be removed by unchecking the box next to the network address on the Setup->Discovery->Networks dialog.

·        To add a specific device to the list of devices to be monitored:

·        Setup->Discovery->Devices, click on Add to add the IP address of the device to be monitored.

·        To perform monitoring:

·        Tools->Start Monitoring will start data collection. Data collection is performed by a Windows service and does not require SiteAudit Viewer to be running.  However, the host running the monitor must be running to perform data collection.

·        The SiteAudit Viewer must be installed on the same machine as SiteAuditMonitor for starting and stopping the monitoring.

·        To view the results of data collection you must run SiteAuditViewer.

·        There are eleven views.  Each is accessible from View-> or from the toolbar icons. Additionally, details for a printer can be obtained by selecting the printer in a view and then selecting View->Printer Details or by clicking on the right mouse button and then selecting Details.  The views will not automatically refresh.  To refresh a view hit F5.
